windows update site stays blank

Hi all,
since a couple of days, the windows update site on my winXP home stays
blank. when i go to the site with the update-software-version 5 it
tells me that it's looking for the update-software, but there it
stops.
I tried to update AutoCAD, and for that i need to visit a registration
site, but this site stays blank as well. may these problems be
relatet?
My "control center"->"user management" -frame only dispays the
"back"-, "forward"- and "home page"-button (I don't know what it's
really called, my windows has german expressions). But the bottom
frame where normally the users are displayed, stays blank as well. So
to me there is noch chance of changing user setting.

Any hints??
