Windows Update Problem

When I connect to Windows Update, I get the following error message:

Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site.

This website is designed to work with Microsoft Windows operating systems
only.
To find updates for Microsoft products that are designed for Macintosh
operating systems, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/mac/.

I have a WinXP Home SP2 based computer with IE7 browser, AVG anti-virus
(off) and ZoneAlarm firewall. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the browser
and tried practically every instruction on this board, including deleting the
2 User Agent folders in the Registry....still same problem.

My Program files\Windows Update folder is empty.

Plus I'm getting the following error when I click on "Help" in IE7:
--------
IE7 version: 7.0.5730.11IC

Internet Explorer Script Error

An error has occurred in the script on this page

Lone: 5
Char: 5
Error: Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.
Code: 0
URL: res://ieframe.dll/aboutXP.dlg
-------

Plus, I'm getting a Flash Player error message to install Flash Player even
though it has been installed, uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I've
followed practically every instruction on this board...still same problem.
I'm including this info here because I believe my problem is interrelated
with the different error messages.

Any HELP will be appreciated.

I've tried everything you guys have recommended, and nothing works...I'm
still having the same problem with Windows Update and the script error. I
covered the list at your Yahoo Group and Andrew E.'s list above. I had
already performed Most of the recommendations at Yahoo Group, but I did them
again. I never ever have these types of problems with Firefox or Opera. I
would discard IE7 to the garbage if I didn't need it for some of my work. Do
you have any other suggestions? And THANKS for your effort...

Problem Solved!!!

“IE7pro†add-on, which I installed on 1/15/2008, had changed the User Agent
to “default†(whatever that is)...I uninstalled IE7pro when I started having
problems with Flash Player and Windows Update. And the problems continued. So
I figured IE7pro wasn’t the culprit. This morning I reinstalled IE7pro and
found a User-Agent list in IE “settings†which included fifteen (15)
User-Agents. It was already set on “Default,†so I tried the following two
(2) and both solved my problems (Windows Update, Flash Player and script
errors):

1. Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows XP (I tried 1st)

2. Internet Explorer 7.0 on Windows Vista (I tried 2nd and is currently using)

I like the IE7pro add-on because it enables IE7 to operate with many
features/add-ons similar to Firefox. Plus Firefox, on my computer, has become
much slower than IE7. Oh, I forgot to note, IE7pro also fixed my IE7 browser
crashing problem after I initially installed it back in January, ’08.

Thanks to you guys because I weren’t familiar with User-Agents until I read
your recommendations.

THANKS...And all the BEST to you and yours!
