windows update patch 823559 and 817606

Hi
I seem to be having a problem installing two automatic
updates on my win xp pro comp. The two security patches
are 817606 and 823559. Everytime there is a notice on my
comp that these two security updates need to be downloaded
and installed, I download them successfully and "thought"
I installed them successfully because after when it is
done it says that they are both installed. The funny part
is that it doesn't prompt my comp to restart and in the
last 2 weeks I've been getting the same automatic update
notices for the same TWO patches even though I've
downloaded them and thought I installed them. My
installation history says that each installation attempt
was an apparent failure....SO CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!
I'm using internet explorer on Ethernet card on Lan...I've
checked and made sure that my firewall is down so what's
the problem????
