Windows update not working

Hi,

I have many windows updates to do. Soooo, I installed
them but as soon as my comp is re-booted all the updates
have to be redone. Also, I have a Windows installer error
when ever I try to install anything. Does anyone know of
a solution other then a full format?

Did you turn your AV's auto file scan off before attempting to install the
updates?
