If you are using the windows update icon under Start -> All Programs ->
Windows Update the shortcut should point to wupdmgr.exe, if this is not
working then you may have some issues with that particular file.
Or you could simply turn automatic updates on by going to Start -> Control
Panel -> System.
Once the system properties open click the "Automatic Updates" tab and then
select "Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them."
This option downloads updates in the background each time you are connected
to the internet, allowing you to continue what you are doing.
