First, uninstall it (Control Panel/Add & Remove, it's listed as "Windows
Media Player Hotfix 828026"). Then download the stand-alone version from the
catalog option at the update site and install it that way instead. If you
don't see the catalog option, add it using personalize.

Windows isn't rocket science! That's my other hobby!
I am having the same problem. That update has downloade 7 times in the last 7 days. I am in the midst of trying the solution that Nutcase has suggested. I'll let you know. Granpa
Well, the installation history still shows all the past downloads plus the personalized one as being successful. The list on the add/remove list only shows one so I'm not sure if the problem is solved or not. I guess that I'll find out in the coming days if the same update is still coming or not. I will tell you that I've come here 4 or 5 times in the past for help and Nutcase has had the right answers for me and loads of other folks. Thanks Nutcase. Granpa

Well, it hasn't updated anything in the last 24 hrs. I'm hoping that means the fix worked. David, I think that you went right past me on your instructions. I'm not that computer literate. Thanks. Granpa
