Windows Update from a Networked Drive

You're not wrong. Best practice would be to transfer the updates to the
clients from the network drive and run them from each client. You'll
still need to adjust the automatic update settings of each client so
that they do not check for updates outside the network. Disable [Turn
off] AU [wuauclt.exe] in Control Panel but do not Disable the AU service
[wuauserv] in the Services console.

There's a monthly ISO of all security updates released here:

There are previous monthly releases available at the MS Download Center,
too. Just change the month/year and Search for them.
