Windows Update failure

Todd M.

Hi,

I am looking for informaiton on getting my windows update
to work in IE. it begins to load then stops at this
message.

Windows Update is looking for available updates... 0%
complete.

It never completes, I can go out to the web site and
download updates but that is a real pain.

I am an IT Pro, and have tried updating the Update Engine
software. By installing the IUCTL.CAB as mentioned in the
KB article 812956. I am interested in how to get this
update to work properly again.

I also refrenced this page in an attempt to solve the
issues, all my IE settings correspond with this pages IE
Settings.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks

First, if this is a relatively recent issue, try sing System Restore to take
you back to a time when this function worked.

If that fails to resolve it. Open Windows Explorer, click the plus sign
next to the Windows folder, click the plus sign next to System32, rename the
CatRoot2 folder to CatRoot2OLD. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, on the
General tab, click Delete Cookies, Delete files (accept the option to delete
all offline content) and click clear history. Now, reboot the system and
try Windows Update again.
