Windows Update Error

I can't get Windows Update to work, even though it's
worked fine in the past. When I click on Windows Update,
it takes me to the home page, checks for latest software,
and then reports "Windows Update Error."
 
Same here. I get a revolving 0x80072F78 firewall
preventing windows update and I have no firewall.
Microsoft tech.'s have been suggesting various fixes to
date and now have worked. Does anybody have a fix?
