Windows Update Error

Hello,

I just reloaded an XP machine, and I went to windows
update. I downloaded the activeX control, and then
clicked SCAN NOW. It hesitated for a quick second, and
then came up with the following error message...

-----------------------
| Begin Error Message: |
-----------------------

Windows Update Error

Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot
display the requested page.

Select from any of the following pages for information
about Windows Update services, or send us your feedback.

You can also get online support if you are having
problems with Windows Update.

Note This sends error information but does not create a
support incident; you may or may not receive a response.

When I go to another machine to try windows update,
everything seems to be working fine. I went ahead and
manually did the SP1 and IE6 service pack, as well as
perform the activation, however, this did not seem to
help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance....

OK, that is great. I read the article, and I understand
that this is due to the updates done to the windows
update site because of the MSBLAST virus. I was told to
check the log file to figure it out.... Here is the log
file... Seems that the error is related to an address
which I have no control over. What should I do at this
point?

OK, I got it... nevermind... The reason is because the
year on the PC was set to 2002 instead of 2003. Seems
that due to the SSL certificate, this was causing
issues... Thanks for your assistance.. It was greatly
appreciated..

On the original link: http://www.updatexp.com/0x800A138F.html
There were quite a few suggestions on how to fix the problem.

Also on the Windows Update Troubleshooter site have a look at:
While the Windows Update Web site is loading you receive Initialization
error 0x8007007e
Also check out - Scan quickly reaches 100% and displays "There are no
updates available" message error 0x800c0008 or 0x80072EE4

A good site to check:
http://www.updatexp.com/0x8007007E.html

When using the Windows Update website you may find that the service
FAILS to update your computer and returns a "General Error" message:

Also on the windows update trouble shooter page check:
While the Windows Update Web site is loading, you receive initialisation
error 0x80072F78.
