Windows XP SP1:

When I go to windows update after I select to search for
updates for my computer I get an error 0x80248007. I
cannot find anything about it on the search engines.
Does anyone know a way around it, what might be happening?

Thanks.

Open the WindowsUpdate.log located in the WINDOWS directory and look
for an error code associated with the last failed attempt to locate
updates. The most recent entries are toward the bottom. Then go to
the V5 Update Troubleshooter and look for that specific error :
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5Consumer/troubleshoot.aspx?ln=en
Try the suggested resolution .

If there is none, post to the windowsupdate newsgroup:

or

Thanks. I had already tried the update troubleshooter
and there was not an entry for my error code. I will try
the other links you provided.

From a previous post by Torgeir Bakken:

You could try the steps in this post to try to get WU to work:

http://groups.google.com/[email protected]

If nothing there worked, try the steps in this post:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=Osk#[email protected]

If that didn't work either, check that WuWebControlClass is enabled in
Internet Explorer:
