Windows update deployments

Is there anyway that you can find out what security patches are needed on a
workstation from running an application from another machine.
Rather than have to go to the Microsoft updates website from the workstation
in question.

I believe that you can use the Microsoft Baseline Security
Analyzer 1.2, windows 2000 download.
