Windows Update Broken

BadHead

Hi,

My windows update service is broken. I do not know how long it has been
broken as I only tried to download updates today. I can search for updates
fine. IE7 shows the downloads that need to be downloaded, but it is when I
try to download that the problem shows itself. I get the download popup
(The grey one titled, "The updates are being downloaded and installed".)
But this is where my downloads stop. The box which is meant to display the
progress of the download and install process remains blank...permanently.

Any ideas how I can sort this out?

Try asking here:
microsoft.public.windowsupdate

When you ask there include the failure code.

Select, Start, Help and Support, Keep your Windows up- to-date with
Windows Update, Review your Update History and click on the Failed
Icon (if any) in the Status Column. What does it say?

Hope this helps.
