Windows Update Agent errors

I have XP running with auto update and I get the following errors:
1. Windows failed to install Update for Office 2003
2. Windows failed to install Update for Outlook Junk Email Filter

This is a Compaq computer with Office and Outlook on the disk, but
I have never used them or installed them. I probably will not install
them,
but would like to keep them on the disk in case. What is going on
here?
Shouldn't update be smart enough to figure out they are not installed?
Is there something I can do to avoid these errors?

I'm having a similar problem...Updates keeps saying it is ready to
install MS Malicious Software removal tool for March...shows that it
installs it and a minute later I get the same message that it is ready
to install it. Thus just keeps going on and on. Have not found a
solution.
