This issue is so weird, I wanted to get it in the newsgroup so no one else
will tear their hair out.

I'm building up a system with this mobo and thought I was out of the woods.
But after installing a one-year-old copy of XP Pro, I couldn't get either
Windows to activate or update off Microsoft's website. Right after
scanning, Windows Update would give me a weird error message and say "Page
not able to be loaded". I did a search on this specific error and there is
a lot of information on the net saying to clear registry values, delete temp
files, reset caches, etc. Microsoft itself lists the error in their support
files but their registry fix did nothing.

Finally, I came across a listing where someone said to check the time/date
of your real-time clock. I had never set it and it was at some default
value a few hours after Jan 1, 2002. Setting it completely solved the
problem and Windows Update and activate worked fine. I have no idea why
Windows is picky about this, but it is. And if Windows is picky, I have no
idea why Microsoft doesn't simply tell the user to set the clock.

This post has to be a joke eh ?

A bad system date will cause an error from Windows Update. I think it needs
to be off quite a bit...
