Windows To Run Properly

I purchased a windows xp home edition oem cd-rom (genuine)
The problem is, somewhere along the line, certain files
were changed. I used sfc /scannow to make sure all the
improtant files were intact, but i got a message, that
said "Files that are required for windows to run
properly, have been replaced by unrecongnized versions.
To maintain system stability, windows must restore the
original versions of these files." Network location from
which the files should be
copied,C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386/controls.man, is
not available. Windows file protection says, files that
are required for windows to run properly, must be copied
to the DLL Cache. underneath that it says, insert your
windows xp professional service pack 1 cd now. Which
makes no sense as i'm using xp home. I did use xp home cd
rom to try and change this, but was unsucessful. any help
from anyone would be much appreciated, throwing the
computer out of the window won't help.
