Disk Cleanup error

I am using disk cleanup for the first time. I get a dialog box that says "
Files that are required for Windows to run properly hae been replaced by
unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore
original versions of these files." Then it says" insert your now". I hit
retry & it says "The CD you provided is the wrong CD. Please insert the into
your CD_ROM drive". It doesn't specify what CD. When I click "more info" it
says "the reason for this message: either you inserted the wrong CD or your
CD ROM isn't working". My drive works fine. What disk are they asking me to
insert? The computer is an HP & came with Windows XP Media Center already
installed on it. If I hit cancel, it says "
You chose not to restore the original versions of the files. This may affect
Windows stability. Are you sure you want to keep these unrecognized file
versions?" Well, of course I'm not sure! Now what?

Your Windows XP CD.
They did give you a way of restoring the system in case of a major issue,
right?

I have the option to do a system restore/recovery, PC Doctor & a software
repair wizard. I'm a little slow when it comes to this stuff, bear with me!

Shrimpers,
Have you tried HP Support yet? I've had mixed experiences with them but
overall I give them a high rating. If you run across a novice, out-sourced
support person then just keep trying. Just as here, the quality of answers
you receive varies. I removed the HP Support/Help capability from my laptop
so can't directly help you.

My prediction: HP Support will guide you through the necessary steps.

Hi, Shrimpers, have you tried a System Restore Point prior to your disc
cleanup?
Hope you are lucky that way, because HP Technical Assistance is a pain
avoided as long as possible.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I chatted online with an HP tech & they had
me close the dialog box, delete temp files & do an SFC scan. It worked :)

Thanks!
