File Protection warning during Disk Cleanup

When running Disk Cleanup I checked the option "Compressed Old Files" after
being assured no files would be lost. I got a Files Protection message that
"Files that are required to run Windows have been replaced by unrercognized
versions. To maintain system stability Windows must restore the original
versions of these files. Insert your (space) now." Optipns were "Retry" "More
Information" and "Cancel." More Information informed that possible sources
for the problem were: the wrong CD inserted or the CD-ROM drive is not
working. When I inserted my Wndows XP MC DVD I got the mesage thtat it is the
wrong CD. I canceled the Disk Cleanup but still get the messages. What
action should I take next?

It is a reinstallation DVD for Windows XP Media Center Edition provided with
my Dell Demision 8400.

It doesn't matter. Windows File Protection monitors a list of files. If any file operations take place involving these names it replaces the file. It will replace a file with an exact copy. The critical thing is that a file operation took place on a file with a certain name.
