windows task manager

I'm new to xp. With win95 if I did cntrl/alt/delete I'd get a list of all
programs that were running. With xp if I do cntrl/alt/del the win task mgr
window appears and there are quite a few items listed with 2 colums: cpu
usage and memory usage. Almost all items show little or no cpu usage but many
show memory usage. How can I tell which items are accually running?
thanks,
Robert

Hello Robert,

In Task Manager, clicking on the "Applications" tab will tell you which Apps
you currently have open.
If you mean all running programs Click Start > Run & type msconfig in the
box > OK
Startup progs are on the Startup tab, running services on the Services tab.

Hi Robert,

They're all running.

Win95, like any Win9x system, is fairly limited in what it shows in Task
Manager. You only see selected programs that are currently running. WinXP is
an NT system, and Task Manager here shows many additional things. What you
are seeing are processes that are hidden in a 9x system - though you would
be able to see them with a process viewer, just not in Task Manager.

Basically, this is normal.
