Windows Task Manager

Goutam

Hi,

Until now I was able to access the Windows Task Manager.
But now when I do Ctrl+Alt+Del I get a message that "The
Task manager has been disabled by your administrator" In
my company I am the only one using Windows XP and in the
User Accounts the system shows my name and under
that "Network Administrator"

Can you tell me how can I be able to access the Windows
Task Manager again?

Greetings:

Enable the Taskmanager in the GPO snap-in
Start\Run\gpedit.msc\user configuration\administrative
templates\system\ctrl+alt+del options\"remove the taskmanager"
set this directive to not configured.

The taskmanager being disabled is known to be caused by viruses
and other parasites... to clean your computer, scan your system with an
updated antivirus and install antispyware plus antitrojan tools
Ad-aware6, Spybot Search & Destroy and SpywareBlaster are the
most recommended spyware tools and for trojans "The Cleaner" is
considered one of the best . HijackThis detects all kind of parasites
but you need to read the tutoring pages before deleting what it finds
as it detects all active processes including normal ones.

SpywareBlaster,

Ad-aware,
www.lavasoftusa.com

SpyBot Search and Destroy,

The Cleaner (49.95 and up)
http://www.moosoft.com/

Those programs will clean up your computer from spyware,
given that you several of them, considering some get what the
others miss.. update them before every scan.
SpywareBlaster and SpyBot Search and Destroy have
immunization features that will protect your PC from infections.

Hi

This might be the work of the Swen worm or something similar
(it could be from some spyware or parasite as well).

To try to solve your problem, do the following:

Copy and paste the URL address lines into your IE address bar:

http://www.dougknox.com

In the menu, select Win XP Utilities, Disable/Enable Task Manager.

To try to find what has caused this:

Run a cleanup tool, e.g. Stinger.exe from McAfee, it removes 30+
virus/worms in one sweep.

McAfee AVERT Stinger

Be sure to run an updated Antivirus program at all times.

For the Spyware and Parasites part, you will need to run other tools:
