Windows has started doing something strange when it starts up. It takes a
nap as part of the startup process.
When I boot the computer, everything is normal up until it gets to the
screen that says, “To login, click your user name.†I click my name and then
it says, “Loading your personal settings.†The computer clicks internally
and acts as if it is doing something for about 15 – 25 seconds.
Then the screen goes to blank blue for about 45 - 60 seconds. During that
time there is no activity in the computer. It’s as if it has gone to sleep.
At the end of the sleep period, it comes back to life, the startup chimes
sound, and it starts to populate the screen with the usual icons, etc.
Now, I can alter the startup process by doing nothing for about 3 minutes
after the “To login, click your user name†appears. After the 3 minutes has
passed, the computer will start clicking and showing activity for about 10
seconds. After that, when I click my name, the computer will boot normally
without hesitation.
What can I do to fix this?
