<windows>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe file is missing

Please my Win XP Home edition on starting ,never displays
the desktop icons and start menu,the only message i got
was that the given file is missing.How do i get it.I do
not have my CD of OS?

Oh My System Restore to a time before this problem
press F8 when restarting keep tapping it as it is
starting try Last Known......

Did you get the BSOD? If so, you may need to get the CD & replace the
file from the CLUI. You could put the CD in another XP Home machine,
find where the file is on both the HD & on the CD, then use this info
to find/replace on yours.
