My Windows System 32 Folder is missing on my computer. I can't seem to find
it, hidden folders displayed. I have it in my back up files, but it won't
allow me to restore it. I think I had a virus or something on the system
that won't let me see it. Every time I would log on to Windows XP Pro /Sp 2,
everything would start as usual, then a dos window would pop up. It would
say something about documents and settings under the user name, then there
was a file named (a.exe) that was XTC after it...
Now I removed it and I want to get my system 32 folder back, McAfee says
that there is a virus found under that name in the system32 folder and I
want to remove it.
I tried to do a system restore to a date last week, and it told me that the
operation failed. McAfee said to turn off system restore to delete the
virus. Question about restore, if I turn it off and clean and delete the
infected file. Will I lose my restore points when I turn the restore back
on. Or will I still have them?????
Please help me on this issue, I am desparate to fix my computer so I don't
have to re-format. I have too much to lose on my hard drive.
Thank you in advance,
Jamie
