"windows system error - object name already exists"

After I finished installing critical updates, I started
getting pop-up message's that say "Windows System Error -
Object name already exists". I also had just installed
Symantec Anti-Virus ver.8.1. I've tried uninstalling
Symantec Anti-Virus and re-installing but it didn't help.
Any advice would be much appreciated. I've got an
impatient engineer waiting for his laptop back. Thankyou.
