Windows stops responding trying to capture video in Movie Maker

I just bought this computer about a week ago and well yesterday I was trying
to capture some analog video in Windows Movie Maker and on the screen where
you control the capture just before I was ready to hit start capture the
computer just stopped responding on me. I had to cut the power in order to
shut the thing off. There were no errors reported in the event log. Spyware
or viruses are not the problem, I've scanned for everything and have my
firewall and everything running. I did update the driver on the tv tuner
card, and was able to complete the capture next time I tried. However, this
incident still disturbs me. I'm concerned that something could be wrong with
the hardware or something.

It's hard to say what the issue is when it happened once and has not
repeated. Also if the problems persist, since it's a new system,
contact the vendor's tech support.
