I understand that Movie Maker 2.1 came with SP2. I currently have SP3,
so I assume this program lives somewhere in my WinXP computer, but I
can't see it.
The installer is C:\WINDOWS\inf\moviemk.inf, but you
can perhaps see a file like moviemk.in_ on the Windows SP3
installer CD. It doesn't seem to be a Windows component,
controllable from Add/Remove programs.

You should find files like WMM2AE.dl_, moviemk.ex_, which
are compressed files in the i386 folder of the installer CD.
I don't know what was supposed to trigger installation,
but occasionally someone comes along who doesn't seem to have
it installed.
And Microsoft tells you to "turn on Windows Update" to get
a copy. Not very helpful at all.

My version is 2.1.4028.0 and the only thing it does amazingly
well, is detecting scene changes (fade to black). As video editors go,
it's pretty lame otherwise. When you want to create output after
the edits are finished, your output options are limited.
