Windows Stealing Focus - MAKING ME INSANE!!!

S

Scott

K, I've discovered that TweakUI focus setting doesn't work...is there
anything else out there?

My problem is, for instance just now I was installing a new program, while
the program is installing I go back to an email, when the program installing
got to a point about questioning something else being installed and thus do
I want to uninstall it it stole focus back with a prompt for yes or no to
uninstall with yes being the default highlighted button and my next key that
I was going to hit in my email was enter - thus the program stole focus and
immediately when it did my finger hit the enter key and POOF! The install
uninstalled something else as a result and I never got a chance to say no
and select to keep installing normally.

I'm a systems admin, I'm always installing/uninstalling new stuff testing
this or that out so this is just annoying as hell and I've got to do
something about it - it's making me NUTTS!!!

Please for the love of god is there something that will ALWAYS keep anything
else from taking focus? If computers were instantaneous in everything they
did then this wouldn't be a problem, but being that quite often it takes X,
Y or Z a long time to load, install, whatever I've got too much to do to sit
there and wait, wait, wait... So I go back to emails or something else while
it's doing it's thing resulting in this problem CONSTANTLY! It's making me
INSAAAANEE!!!

Please, PLEASE!!! Something, anything? I'll use a freakin MAC If I have to!
ARgh!!!

Thanks,

Frustrated...

Suggestions, Scott:

Prevent Programs from Stealing Focus - Undo (Line 66)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

When a window that does not have focus is updated by its program, the
default setting prevents it from becoming the foremost (top) window,
instead, it flashes in the taskbar.

HeldUp is the easiest way to stop windows from disappearing behind other
programs. http://www.johnmacintyre.ca/HeldUp.asp

I've reported the IP that your posts are coming from to Adelphia under their
abuse policies. Have a nice day.

LOL! By what exactly did you feel abused by?

And I suspect the folks from Adelphia will be able to see that you
started it all off by responding to me. Have a nice day, stoolie! ;-)

I guess the action of reporting me to my ISP, and responding to me about
it, falls under the definition of the word "ignore" in Liar's
Dictionary, huh?

If you are gonna attempt to seize the moral high ground, maybe your
actions should show you to be a man of your word, instead of a total
hypocrite. And if you feel abused by the word "hypocrite," then you
should learn to truely ignore someone, when you clearly said that is
what you were going to do.

"Proceeding to ignore you...Have a nice life!" Here is your own words,
come back to haunt you.

Since you are hiding behind the CDO interface, maybe you should report
yourself to your ISP, as your own actions abused you.

Oh, and have a nice day too! :)

that would be you I take it?

So, what kind of miserable life do you lead that you get off on messing with
people in forums? I mean really, is this the highlight to your day?

S

Scott

wow, your mental ... I was going to ignore you, but I figured I'd play along
for a while...What does it have to do with anything that I am responding to
you yet still reported you to your ISP Adelphia?

Programmer with nothing better to do or what?

On second thought, I went through some of your other posts - you don't get
any more entertaining....Oh well - cya.

What would be me? And you don't have to "take it." You could just do
as you said previously, ignore me. Obviously, you are incapable of
following your own written word.
So, what kind of miserable life

None. I'm quite content, thanks.
do you lead that you get off on
messing with people in forums?

Do you feel messed with? You should see somebody about your persecution
complex.
I mean really, is this the highlight
to your day?

Just taking a break from updating a web page of mine.

Well your admission that you are the one "playing" in this thread should
be enough for Adelphia to completely ignore your complaint.
Programmer with nothing better to do or what?

Don't you know what you are? You need to seek professional help more
than I originally thought!

See my censored posts, some of them are quite amusing. Some are just
amusing as there is no seeming reason for them to have been censored.
