No I do not have too many programs loading on startup,
but somehow..the processes take a really long time to
start..something close to 1-2 minutes. I only have norton
internet security starting up. Even my desktop icons dont
show up till those 1-2 minutes.
In task manager, in Users i dont see any user logged on
till everything starts..till those 1-2 minutes. In
processes, there are some processes like svchost etc, but
then suddenly Regfilter and some junk start and go and
then norton loads and my desktop icons show up..
ANY IDEAS why this could be happening??

Depends on what's loading., your processor speed, memory, etc.

1 or 2 min is not excessive if you have an older chip with an
antivirus, and prefetch loading, limited resources, etc.

Depends.

Hi,

These should help:

HOW TO: Perform Advanced Clean-Boot Troubleshooting in Windows XP

First thing I'd do is disable the Norton stuff and see what effect that has.
