Windows starting problem

When I turned the computer on as Windows began to start I
got the message "An invalid parameter was passed to a
service or function." When I clicked "OK" the computer
rebooted and came up with the same message.

I turned the computer off and restarted it, pressing the
appropriate key to go to the boot option menu. I selected
to boot using the option "Last Known Good Configuration."
When Windows was loading I got the message "When trying to
update a password then the status indicates that the value
provided as the current password is incorrect." After a
few seconds the computer will reboot itself and cycle
though with the same result.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Fred, if anybody EVER had any success with using the Last Known good
Configuration feature then post here and let me
know. Get to the same Menu and select "Safe Mode with Command Prompt".
Then do a System Restore from there.

If that doesnt work and you have a WinXP CD then I would try a Repair
Install.
