Windows start up sound cut off

The wav file I'm using plays fine in Winamp etc., even when
I select it in the Sounds and hit play. But when windows
starts up, it cuts off the sound file. It's not that long a
file, but I get about 1 second and its cut off.

Any ideas?

Hi Erin,

It has to do with size rather than length. Use as an example this .wav
stopped at 13 seconds.

A .wav encoded at CD quality (44kHz, 16-bit stereo), size 5.21MB, plays for
13 seconds. Saved at radio quality (22kHz, 8-bit mono), size 668KB, plays
in full.
