My windows XP Home Edition stalls for about 80 seconds on the windows is starting up screen and before the Welcome screen. I would appreciate it if someone could help me with the problem.
Look in device manager and make sure you have no hardware
conflicts (control panel-system-Hardware-Device Manager).
Next look to see what programs are starting with windows.
Click Start-Run-type msconfig click okay-click the
startup tab. Uncheck programs you don't need starting
with windows. You can also go here for a free utility
used to control startup http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
Next go here http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
This will tell you about many services that start with
windows that may not be needed.
