I downloaded windows SP2. Once I finished and reboot I
cannot connect to my wireless network. I have a netgear
PCI Card and a D-Link Router.

Before the download everything worked fine.

I tried turning off the firewall.
Added the programs in Exceptions tab.
Tried Reinstalling Wireless card.

I believe it is the SP2 but have no idea how to correct
this.

I could uninstall SP2 but I wanted to download it to
update my settings.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

After all the excellent help that I got from this NG, I have finally given
up trying to network XP Home and 98. I am junking the XP and installing 98
instead. Then I'll get my network. I know the joke about 'we are Microsoft,
resistance is futile', but they really can't be allowed to get away with
this. I've contacted them and got no response. If only... If only Linux
came near to having the advantages of Windows.

So FWIW go back to a user-friendly, more stable OS.

http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm This is for my money the best
site for working through XP and XP SP2 networking problems. Read it
carefully, step by step...scroll down past the troubleshooter for the
text.

There are two interesting comments not seen elsewhere: Use all caps
network name, and enable the Guest Account. This latter has made my
network and booting fly.

Peter,

actually the problems of connecting a Windows XP computer to a
Windows 98 SE computer are not all that difficult, compared to
some others. Check http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm to
determine the cause of your particular problem and solve it.

If that doesn't work, I'd be curious to learn about it.
