Hello:

We have been deploying XP SP2 via Active directory software install, and up
until now it has worked flawlessly. I've completed automated installs on over
25 machines with out issue. Until now.

I did a deployment over night and cam ein this morning to find tha machine
is a reboot cycle. First post, ther the black XP Windows screen, then blank
screen, then post. never gets to starting windows.

Hardware = PIII 1 Ghz, 512 Mbytes RAM, 60 Gbyte HDD.
( All of my other machines are of similar configuration except for HDD size
variances.)
This machine was patched to current patches, less SP2.
Running Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Congos Impromptu, Norton Antivirus
9.0.1, Corp Edition.

First time I've seen this

Any Ideas?

I had a the same problem too. Turns out I need to update the motherboard's
BIOS. I'd flash to the latest one and try again.

No Go on the BIOS as the other machine are identical in Hardware/BIOS

GM,

check http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm for some more hints. It
could be a driver that may need updating.

The web page also describes the procedure of how to avoid the
automatic reboot, so you can look at the error message.
