Windows XP Pro on a Dell Optiplex GX260, SoundMAX Digital
Audio on-board.
The default Windows sounds don't play, but all other
sound (Media Player, etc.) work just fine. When trying to
play a .wav file using mplay32.exe, I get the error
message "No wave device is installed that can play files
in the current format. To install a wave device, go to
Controll Panel, click Printer and Other Hardware, and
then click Add Hardware." Never mind these are faulty
instructions since these options aren't in Control Panel,
but I have no conflicting hardware and have reinstalled
the drivers from Dell.
Thank you!
