windows slow to start up/stalls

I have windows 2000 Pro and recently it has been taking a
long time for windows to load. It takes a very long time
for apps to load and when i checked my CPU usage, it was
at 100% !! its usually only running at 2-3%. One time,
the main screen went black for about 30 seconds. I cant do
anything, the desktop just hangs (freezes). I reset the
comp about 3 times before it got back to normal. What in
the world is going on?? please help!

PS... each day it takes windows a diff amount of time to
load.
 
I Have the some problems on 2 identical pc's , and they
also give a total blue screen with no information when i
do a shutdown or restart.
