The "sleeping mode" of Windows, where what's going on is stored on the HD
before the computer is cut off (to facilitate quick resuming of the work)
does not work. It used to work, but does not anymore.
I am not sure, but I suspect that it disappeared when I used a register
cleaning program.
Is there a way to restore it without installing everything from scratch?
(The present state requires all the patiance I've got, and more ...).

Winows XP, SP2, Home Edition.
Compaq Presario 2528EU (a laptop).

Any idea?

Nothing a registry cleaner can do to a registry that reinstalling the OS
won't fix. But before you do that. Got enough free space? Is it enabled
in Power Options?
