Windows "Sizing"

Not sure what to call this problem--or exactly where to post--but Windows
seems like a reasonable place. Ever since restoring my laptop to its
factory settings I find that any maximized program window blocks the task
bars (the one beginning with the Start button and then, continuing to the
right, the Quick Launch, the System Tray/Notification Area to the clock at
the extreme right) at the bottom of the screen. It seems to make no
difference what program is operating; it happens with Word, IE, you name it.
If I minimize or reduce down the specific page/window blocking those tool
bars I can see them again. But having to do so is a little annoying. Is
there a setting somewhere (in Windows???) that lets me maximize the program
screens while still having access to the Windows tool bars at the bottom?
Thanks!

How are you maximizing the windows, with F11?

Simplest thing is to set the taskbar to "autohide". It won't be visible
until you move your mouse to the bottom of the monitor and then it will come
up, slides down again when you move the cursor away.. Make it "always on
top" too.

Right click taskbar
Properties
Taskbar tab

Right-click the taskbar and select properties. See options and select
accordingly.

First, check to see of your taskbar is locked and above other windows by
right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting "Properties". The option for
"Lock Taskbar" and "Keep The Taskbar On Top" should be enabled.

I hope this helps.

No, just clicking on the llittle "maximize" icon at the uppper right corner
of a window.

And the winner is . . . "Keep taskbar on top." (On taskbar, Properties...).
I have seen this before but had the wrong idea of what it meant! Thanks to
all!

Thanks! Keeping the taskbar on top does the trick. Until now I
misunderstood the meaning of keeping it on top. I thought it meant on top
of the page, which seemed pointless.
