Windows shuts down during compat test

I am trying to upgrade to XP Pro and I get and error(fatal
exception 06 has occurred at 0028:00000017) and it always
happend when it is processing system files checking DVD
Movie player. If it helps I am upgrading from Win 98 and
other than that I don't know what else that could be
helpful.

While at the Win98 desktop, place the XP CD in the drive, at the setup
screen, select "Check System Compatibility." Whatever it turns up must be
corrected before you upgrade or you run the risk of the upgrade setup being
halted by errors as you've already found.
