I get an error page saying windows xp has been shut down
to protect my computer. I can't do anything but turn the
computer off manually. It says to go to a website but I
can't get on to the internet. Please help.

See if you can restore your computer to a previous point using system
restore point. If you can run a virus scan right away and make sure you have
your ICF firewall enabled or ar using some sort of firewall. I would also
try booting into Safe Mode with networking to see if you get more
functionality. Tap F8 repeatedly while booting and you will ge a special
start menu to select it.--- Steve

Can you post the exact error you are seeing? Is it something like Windows
encountered a critical system error?
If so did you recently change the configuration of your PC? If so you
might want to try booting into safe mode to undo the recent changes.
