Hello All -

Here's the situation: At shutdown, all service
termination seems to be fine but just when the PC should
power off - it doesn't. Same thing is I do a 'restart',
PC goes to the part where it should reboot but doesn't.

Machine is a Dell Dimension 450 - Win2K. All patches and
updates installed and running NAV with all updates. This
started happenineg about 2 weeks ago. All updates were
installed BEFORE that time without incident. Also, no new
software save Palm Desktop - again, not at the same time
that this cropped up.

Only thing I added was a flash drive and I keep the 6ft
USB extension cord plugged in even if the drive is not in
use. (I've removed the cord - no change) Any ideas?

Hi Tom,

Have you tried
Start -> Run... -> "type" SFC /SCANNOW

Hello Don -

I ran that command - I received a 'flash' of a DOS
screen. I then did a search to see if any log was
generated - nada. What is SFC / SCANNOW suppose to reveal?

thanks

Hello Don -

OK, on further inspection, I typed the command in wrong.
The Scan did take place - it asked for me to install my
Win@K CD - which I did and it finished witout incident.
However, I did NOT reinstall Windows. I think I'll try
doing a windows FIX from the CD and see if that helps
