No, you can install the release version of SP 2 without uninstalling
the Beta.
However I suggest uninstalling the Beta before installing the final
version.

Hi all
I have begun the download thing for SP2, but because of its indicated size, it would take at least 700 minutes; no way!

Does Microsoft supply these SP's on CD?

As with previous Service Packs, they are usually available for no charge or
shipping fees only on CD media. AOL usually includes them on their free
disks and computer magazines include them as an incentive to purchase their
products.

Microsoft has not yet stated distribution options for SP 2.
However if the past is an indicator, you will be able to order the CD
for little or no charge.
Many computer magazines also had SP 2 included on CD.

You can also download it on another computer with high speed internet
and burn to CD.

We have been told that the final release will be a supported install
over the two RC releases that have been made publicly available (builds
2096 and 2149), as well as over original XP or original plus SP1 and
regular updates. . Installing over any other test release, such as the
much mentioned 2162, may give trouble - final release might end using
earlier versions of certain components
