Windows Service Pack 2 Problem

Help! I have a really annoying problem that I believe was caused by the
installation of Windows Service Pack 2 for XP Home. Everytime I turn on my
computer and login the first time I try and start an MP3 explorer.exe crashes
and takes a few seconds to come back on, during which time it closes down
several programmes I use. It seems to be a pretty common error i searched it
on googles and many results were found, however i could not find one which
actually told me how to fix it.

Please help!

I am running Windows XP Home Edition with an Athlon 2400XP+ , 512mb of RAM
if that is relevant.

Regards
