Windows Server 2003 - boot Lsass fail init 0xc0000142 after winupd

Hi There,

After downloading updates a few days ago, my Windows 2003 Server failed to
start after reboot.

When the system starts, before logon screen appears this popup message is
displayed:
Window Title: "lsass.exe - Application Error"
Window Message: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142).
Click on OK to terminate the application."
Buttons: "OK"

When I click "OK" nothing happens, and the server is not answering any
sessions over LAN/WAN and of cause no netlogon prompt is shown.

I have run MS AntiSpyWare with latest definition files and F-Prot Antivirus
also with latest definition files prior to posting this message.

I can start the server in SAFE-MODE, but even when i set most services to
disabled or manual startup, then the server won't start.

Can anyone help me then, this would be highly appreciated, since this server
is hosting my web, mail, and ftp server :(

Waiting in anticipation...

Hi,

Noticed your post, I have JUST had the same issue here with our exchange
server. I think that we are experiencing tis at about the same time as your
post is new.

I have a suspicion that this is Sasser but this is unconfirmed. I have
booted to safe mode and DL'ed a stinger tool from mcafee that is scanning the
system as we speak. Prob is that it is also scanning my mailstore which is
going to take a VERY VERY long time!!

I'll post back when I know more. Would appeciate if you drop back with any
progress...

Cheers,

Ben
