Windows Reset

At random times my computer will just reset it self. It gives no warning and
theres no shutdown splash screen or anything that would suggest a problem. It
will go from my desktop (or any program) and in a split second will go to a
black screen then reboots just like normal.

Running XP Pro SP2. Any ideas on what's going on?

Thanks everyone!

Thats not much to work with....Try going to control-panel,ADM.,open
event viewer for details, click on the url, this opens help/support in xp,
usually with a fix or answer.A wild guess, sounds like a hardware problem.

Hi

If you don't see any error messages, right click on My Computer, select
Properties and then the Advanced tab. Click on Settings under Startup and
Recovery and disable 'Automatically restart'. Next time your PC reboots,
you should see a Blue Screen. Could you please post the Stop Code that
accompanies that BSOD back here? With that your problem could be isolated.

You are presumably blue-screening, and you are set to reboot
whenever that happens. Right-click My Computer, and choose
Properties. On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and
Recovery. Under System failure, uncheck the box "Automatically
restart."

Now when the problem occurs again, you will get the blue screen
with diagnostic information. Post back with those details for
more help.

when a system failure is encountered the system automatically restarts.
To prevent the system from automatically restarting:

Right click My Computer>Properties>Advanced tab.
C>Settings>Startup and Recovery section.
Remove the checkmark from Automatically Restart inSystem Failure section.

Pay particular attention to these messages as they may provide valuable
clues to shutdown
