Windows Registration Password Help

A couple years ago I bought my computer and installed
windows xp onto it. Everything was working fine, until my
computer got a virus, and I had to completely uninstall
and reformat my computer. I installed the windows xp cd on
my fixed computer, but i now need to register with
microsoft. Unfortunately, i found the xp cd but misplaced
the id code that came with it that is needed to register.
I have 4 days left to register and I still can't find my
id code. Please help.

It may be on a sticker that is stuck to your machine. Or it will be on a
stick on the CD case that tells you not to lose it. Otherwise, you may be
SOL.

If you have reinstalled the system, you have used the 25 character
product key in the process - that is all that is needed. Get on the
net, go to
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Activate Windows
and take Activate on the INternet now - it will take about 20 seconds

You don't have to register, that is optional. You have to Activavte
though. Before you do that You need to install the system, which
requires a product key, which is the code on the COA you are
apparently missing. Since you wiped your PC, you supposedly cannot get
it back in that regard. If your OS was a retail version, you can call
microsoft for help.
