Way to retrieve my key from Microsoft, or be issued new one?

I have my original store bought Windows XP cd, but over the years, I have
misplaced the product key code. When I originally purchased and installed
the cd, I registered with Microsoft. Is there an easy way to contact
Microsoft, and retrieve my key? Or have them issue me a new key? Thanks for
the help!

Try the Magical Jellybean Keyfinder at
<http://www.magicaljellybean.com/>

It should be able to retrieve your product key for you.

The Windows XP software is not currently installed on the computer, so I
don't think that software used to read the registry and tell me the product
code will help, thanks though...

Try
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246/en-gb

From KB326246
Replacement product key
To replace a product key, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support. To
locate the appropriate telephone number, visit the following Microsoft Web
site:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;CNTACTMS

As to retention of data at MS connecting your registration with the product
key, see this forum response by Darin Smith of Microsoft:

Sorry, I "assumed" it was installed. You may have to contact MS unless someone else has any ideas.

Thanks for all your help, I was able to get the issue resolved.
Using this: "If you need a replacement product key for your retail version
of Windows XP, please contact Microsoft Technical Support at 1-800-Microsoft
(800-642-7676). Representatives are available Monday through Friday from
5:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Pacific time and Saturday or Sunday from 6:00 A.M. to
3:00 P.M. Pacific time."

They simple had me read of the part number on the bottom side of my Windows
XP disk to verify it, and they issued me a product key, and now I'm in
business! Thanks again...
