Windows recovery console

In windows recovery console I am asked for an administrator password,
as it is normal according to the knowledge base. Th e rpoblem is that I
don't have this password and it has nothing to do with my windows
account password....so my question is: IS THE ADMINISTRATOR
PASSWORD GIVEN BY WINDOWS (MICROSOFT) OR BY THE COMPUTER
COMPANY (IN MY CASE, HP)?
Hope somebody can answer my question. Thanx

'The Password Is Not Valid' Error Message Appears When You Log On to
Recovery Console in Windows XP

or

This registry edit causes the Recovery Console not to ask for a password.
This works for both XP Home and XP Professional.

Start | Run | Regedit
Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\
CurrentVersion\Setup\RecoveryConsole
Set the DWORD SecurityLevel value to 1
Exit Registry and Reboot

Note you can save the registry key first by:
On the File menu, click Export.
In the File name box, type SaveKey, and then click Save.
Or create a system restore point prior to editing.
Note: If the registry key is not there, you can simply create one by going
edit > new.
