windows pop up

Sean

my girlfriends has Windows XP and a pop-up keeps poping
up. Has anyone seen this one... is it legit.

Windows File Protection

Files that are required for Windows to run properly have
been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system
stability, Windows must restore the original versions of
these files.

Insert your Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 CD now

I am just very cautious about popups.... can someone
please advise me on this.... she has had alot of problems
with her computer.... XP lags bad for her.

Thank you. You can email me directly at
(e-mail address removed) , thanks again in advance.

Greetings --

That's an error message, and WinXP is asking for permission to fix
the problem. Why are you confusing it with pop-up advertising?

That sounds like a window file protection error. This could very well be
the reason your system is not performing as expected. The following article
talks about the details of this feature.

This feature is meant to protect critical system files from being over
written or updated when they should not be.
