Hi presently when we tried to put an icon on the desktop of windows xp, when
we logof and login, the icons are delete

how can i disable this policy...i dont find it

Are you placing the Icon (Shortcut) on the users desktop as the
administrator? If not....You need to.

If this is a workstation in an office, talk to your IT Dept.

Otherwise, provide more information such as what version and service
pack level of XP you have and whether this is a standalone machine,
member of a workgroup, member of a domain, etc.

Im placing the icons with my admin account but remotly

im connecting to the workstation like this

\\computername\C$

and i go in document and settings\username\desktop and place a shortcut
there

The pc is on a domain
Windows Xp SP2
Im the IT guys..its because im new here and don't have info on all the
settings here

Hi

If your PC is on a domain and running mandatory profiles (speak to your
administrator to find this out) Then any changes you make to your desktop
will be lost on restarting the machine.
