I deleted my original My Pictures Folder, which held 1300 images; created
another MPF and now my Windows Picture Screen Saver stops performing after
showing 20 or so photos.

How many images are in the folder your
screen saver is associated with? You can
change the folder by using the Browse
option found at the Settings button on the
Screen Saver tab of Display Properties.

It's possible that some regular maintenance
would be useful:

Running Disk Cleanup, Error Checking and
Defrag on a regular schedule is a good idea.

(check the two boxes..."Automatically fix file
system errors" and "Scan for and attempt
recovery of bad sectors") the utility will run
the next time you restart your computer.
(run error checking repeatedly until it finds
no errors)
